Simple DIY Methods to Sun-Bleach Your Hair

Looking for the safest as well as the most natural way to get sun-kissed hair? Well, there are two DIY methods for getting natural blond highlights. The first one makes use of fresh lemon juice, while the chamomile tea is used in the second procedure.

Lemon juice is highly acidic by nature. It can go deep into the hair strands and lift their natural color very fast. Therefore, people with light hair color (such as ash blond, sandy, etc.) can use it for getting their desired shades quickly. On the other hand, the acidic properties of chamomile are not that strong, which makes it a great choice for both red heads brunettes along with blonds. The best thing about using chamomile tea is that it doesn’t turn our hair brassy.

  1. Cut and squeeze out the juice of a large fresh lemon into the spray bottle. It is even better to use a mister sprayer in place of a regular spray bottle.
  2. Warm up the water and pour it into the mister. Shake it well so that the ingredients get combined properly. Make sure that you use the lemon juice and water in 2:1 ratio.
  3. As you need to start with clean hair, apply a good herbal shampoo thoroughly and air dry it well.
  4. After that, comb your hair nicely in order to detangle it. You may create a simple part and let it loose or style it up the way you usually love to do.
  5. Now, start spritzing the lemon-water spray onto your dry hair from a minimum distance of 6 inches. Cover all your hair (excluding the scalp) so that it gets damp completely. You can also comb the spray through the locks, if you wish.
  6. Once you are done with it, blow-dry your hair properly. You need to dry it up. So, let it remain loose for the next 45 to 60 minutes. It is even better to relax under the sun during this period for getting the best results.
  7. Check out how much color has lifted and then, rinse off with a gentle shampoo and conditioner. Do not try to get your desired shade in one go. Or else, you will end up making your tresses brassy.
  8. You must carry out the procedure 1-2 times every week until you get the perfectly bleached hair.
2. Chamomile Tea Method

Steps to Follow:
  1. Just prepare a large cup or mug of chamomile tea infusion and allow it to cool down completely.
  2. Pour it into the spray bottle or mister sprayer and you are ready to go.
  3. Now, follow the steps 3 to 8 mentioned in the previous method. There is no difference between the application procedures of the two methods.
Both of these methods will bleach your hair evenly as you are supposed to treat all your hair. However, if you wish to have highlights, simply take small sections of hair at a time and spray lemon–water or chamomile tea spray on them one by one.
