Does Lemon Juice Work for Freckles?

What lemon juice actually does?
Lemon juice is essentially a fruit acid (citric acid). Being an acid, it posses great bleaching powers. When used on a regular basis, it tends to lighten and brighten your skin tone. How to use it?

Method 1- Direct application of lemon juice with help of cotton ball
Procedure – This is one of the simplest ways to apply lemon juice on your skin. All you need to do is to squeeze a lemon and take its juice out in a bowl. Now take a cotton ball, dip it in the lemon juice and dab your skin spots with this ball. Let the juice remain on your face at least for 15 minutes. Now wash your face using a mild face wash. Repeat this process minimum two times a day. This process will help you to bleach out your skin and do away from those ugly freckles.
(Note – direct application of lemon juice may cause little tingling sensation in your skin.)



Method 2- Lemon and Sugar scrub
Procedure – This method not only helps you in removing tiny brown spots from your skin but also allows you to keep your skin thoroughly scrubbed. You need one lemon and a tea spoon of granulated sugar to remove freckles using this method. Take a juicy lemon and cut it into two halves, now sprinkle half of the granulated sugar that you have on top of one of the lemon halves. Rub this lemon half on your freckled skin for 4-5 minutes.  After scrubbing your skin, wash it with warm water and user a clean towel to pat dry your face.  Repeat this process after a week and continue till you see your skin spots being completely vanished.

Conclusion – Lemon juice does help in lightening of freckles if it is used with proper care and regular basis. However, if you have sensitive skin and your freckles are persistent, you must visit your dermatologist on earliest possible.
(Note – To get the best result of lemon juice application, it is suggested to avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen if you are bound to step out in sun.)
