5 Easy-Peasy Soothing Eye Masks to Make at Home


All of us need to take extra care of our eyes, whenever we return home after an arduous day. But it does not necessarily mean that you have to burn a hole in your pocket to soothe and pamper your tired eyes. There are some simple and easy homemade eye mask recipes that can make your task easier and cheaper. Here are 5 of them:

1. Rose Water Eye Mask
The simplest way to soothe eyes after an extremely tiring day is to take some pure rose water and soak a pair of cotton pads in it. Placing these on eyes for 15 to 20 minutes can freshen up the entire eye area by inducing a calming effect. This eye mask is also known to reduce under eye puffiness as well as dark circles effectively.

2. Cucumber Eye Mask
It is the most commonly used natural eye soothing mask. Cucumber is well-known for its cooling and relaxing effects and hence, frequent application of this mask can make your tired eyes look totally fresh and re-energized. Take half of a large cucumber (if you are using a small or medium-sized one, use the whole fruit) and grate it finely. Let it chill inside the refrigerator for half an hour. Then, spread evenly around the eyes with your fingertips. After 30 minutes or so, wash off with cold water.
3. Potato Eye Mask
Potato is another easily available kitchen ingredient that can calm and soothe stressed eyes efficiently. Take a thick slice of potato and grate it thoroughly. Just like the cucumber mask, place it inside the refrigerator so that it becomes chilled. After 20 to 25 minutes, take it out and spread over the skin around your eyes. Once you feel that the juice is soaked up by the skin completely, wash off with cold water. Apart from revitalizing tired eyes, it will eliminate puffiness and dark circles too.

4. Potato and Cucumber Eye Mask
What about using cucumber and potato together in your eye mask to enjoy the goodness of both of them? Well, the process is absolutely easy. Simply grate the potato and the cucumber and mix them well to form a smooth mixture.  Now, squeeze it as hard as possible to take the juice out. Dip two cotton swabs in it and let them absorb the greenish-yellow juice nicely. Place them over your eyes and relax. After 30 minutes, remove the cotton swabs and wash off your eyes with plain cold water. All your under eye issues will go away and you will absolutely love your rejuvenated eyes.

5. Milk and Baking Soda Eye Mask
Milk can also do wonder for exhausted eyes. To prepare an eye mask of it, take 4 tablespoons of fresh whole milk and add 2 tablespoons of baking soda to it. Blend well to come up with a smooth mixture of creamy consistency. Place it inside the refrigerator for some time. Then, take out the chilled mask and apply it around your eyes uniformly. After 20 to 25 minutes, wash off with cold water. Your eyes will look revived and healthy in no time.
